Material Handling Buckets
Brothers and Sisters,
It has been brought to the System Committee's attention that there are areas right now that are utilizing a material handler buckets with a lone worker. This is not approved and should cease immediately. If there are areas where this is taking place please forward that information to one of the local union officers.
The Union negotiating committee and the company are currently in discussions about this very issue. The use of material handling bucket trucks with a lone worker is prohibited by current agreements between the parties. The company has proposed to remove this prohibition with proposal M-10.
The Union is not in favor of removing that prohibition due to safety concerns.
Your System Committee and Local Union leadership appreciates your commitment to work safely.
Fraternally,
David B. Price

October 26, 2011 Update
The System Committee and the Company are working this week to resolve some of the differences in the proposed language for the production department.
To date, the negotiation process is moving along pretty good. Proposals over the vacation list posting (U13), call out list position in the line department (U3) and upgrade (U4) have been tentatively resolved.
There are still many proposals to work through but we are hopeful to have contract negotiations completed prior to the expiration of the current agreement.
Continue to work safe and I look forward to meeting with everyone on November 7th at 7:00 pm.
Fraternally,
David B. Price
